Saskatchewan Schedule for the First Draw of Expression of Interest

The new Expression of Interest system of Saskatchewan took effect on July 16th. It will hold its first draws on September 19th and November21st, 2018.  Moreover, it will manage the profiles of candidates for the Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand sub-category of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program. Overseas nationals intending to immigrate to Saskatchewan using these Skilled Worker sub-categories must register in the online application system - OASIS - of SINP, and also complete the EOI profile. This sub-category permits the SINP to send the invitations to eligible candidates in the federal EE pool for applying to seek provincial nomination in Saskatchewan. These candidates, who apply for it and also successfully receive the Provincial Nomination Certificate, get 600 extra CRS points. These points guarantee an ITA for Canadian PR in a subsequent draw from the federal EE pool. The applications of EOI pool candidates, receiving the invitation to apply, for provincial nomination, in the Occupations In-Demand sub-category, will be processed outside the EE system. Candidates have to show work experience in an in-demand occupation.

New EOI system: way of working

  • The first step is to submit an EOI profile.
  • The candidates must answer questions regarding education, work experience, and language proficiency in English/French, to complete the profile,
  • There is a unique assessment grid to assess Candidates having 100 points and in order to satisfy eligibility requirements. Successful Candidates have obtain at least 60 points

The SINP ranks the candidates in the EOI pool:

  1. It identifies EOI candidates scoring the highest points.
  2. When the candidates have equal scores, the Program will give the priority to candidates who have a connection with the province. These are having a close family relative, past work experience, and/or past study experience in the province
  3. It will also prioritize candidates who have more work experience and a high language score.
Another improvement over the past time based model is that candidates presently have 60 days for submitting a complete online application to the Program. Finally, the Saskatchewan E.O.I. Calculator helps candidates to determine EOI rank score in the System.
