Invitation to Business Candidates for Applying in British Columbia Immigration

British Columbia has invited candidates in the July 25, 2018 draw to apply for a new batch of entrepreneurs in the recent BC PNP draw. 14 candidates qualified for the ITA and the minimum score was 116.

Requirements for the B.C. Entrepreneur Category

Business candidates in this category have to meet these minimum criteria:

  • Having a personal minimum net worth of $800,000;
  • Making a personal minimum investment of $400 000 for establishing, purchasing and expanding an eligible business in B.C.;
  • Creating three jobs for permanent residents or Canadian citizens;
  • Participating in the daily management and direction of the business;
  • Signing a performance agreement with B.C. preceding the nomination;
  • Candidates belonging to the Entrepreneur category can sponsor a staff member to get the Canadian PR.

Qualifying For the Regional Entrepreneur Category

Business candidates here need to meet these minimum criteria:

  • Having a personal minimum net worth of $400,000;
  • Making a personal minimum investment of $200 000 for establishing, purchasing and expanding an eligible business in B.C., outside the metropolitan areas of Vancouver and the Abbotsford;
  • Creating  one job for permanent residents or Canadian citizens;
  • Participating in the daily management and direction of the business;
  • Signing a performance agreement with B.C. preceding the nomination.

Furthermore, the recent BC immigration draw was one of the biggest of the year and there was a major drop in the minimum scores.

The this draw saw 400 invitations were issued through the BC PNP, which were three below the  largest 2018 draw, which was held in January.

Also there was a drop in the Minimum scores in four out of the five streams dropped. There was a need of Only, 84 points for the direct skilled worker category.

Additionally in the direct provincial international graduate category, candidates just had to score 91 points, whereas in the draw in the previous week there was a need of 96 point’s.

The score for the EE categories for skilled workers and international graduates was 91 points.

Entry level and semi-skilled workers had to score 65 points.

cThe provincial nomination guarantees selection in the EE System as they get additional 600 (CRS) points.

The BC PNP also publishes the scores which an immigrant needs to get an invitation for in its programs.

The international graduate has to score 30 fewer points compared to the skilled worker under the Express Entry and provincial stream.

The score is lower for entry-level and semi-skilled workers.
