The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) of Australia and VFS Global have decided to offer visa application services via 10 upgraded and three new Australia visa application centers (VAC) throughout India and Nepal. Citizens of India and Nepal who wish to travel to Australia can now easily lodge their visa requests at nine advanced VACs located in various cities of India which include Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Chennai, Mumbai (North) and the other one in Kathmandu, Nepal. The new three Australia VAC’s will be established at Jalandhar, Mumbai (South) and Pune shortly. It is expected that this improved service system would minimize travel and time expenses and it will also fasten the whole visa application process. Mark Pierce, Australian Consul General, has warmly welcomed the upgraded services and he expects that these services would help to increase the number of Indian citizens moving to Australia. He added that this is the first time for Australia’s High Commission to issue more than 100,000 tourist visas for Indian citizens in a single year.
