The number of students visiting the United States of America from India has reportedly soared this year. The reports indicated that the number of student visa applications processed for the US has increased by 37 per cent compared to previous May. A quick look at the statistics confirmed that the number of F1 visa (student visa) applications at Chennai has touched 8000 mark compared to previous 5000. Also, the reports indicated that at least 40 per cent of all the visa applications came from Karnataka followed by Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Briefing the media more on this, American Consulate General, Nicholas Manring said, out of 1500 visa applications processed at Chennai, at least 300 applications are for student visas. He has also observed that the number of visa applicants for community colleges has considerably increased.
