As per a new report, when British Columbia issued provincial nominations in the Skills Immigration streams during 2018; Indians were in the top position, by receiving 29 percent of the provincial nominations. Also the report mentions, that after the Indians, the next in the list, for receiving provincial nominations, were citizens of China, Brazil and South Korea.
Furthermore, nominations in the Skills Immigration program of the provincial Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), increased in a significant manner. In 2017 BC PNP, had issued 1,218 nominations totally, which increased to of 1,607 in 2018. In the Category of Semi-Skilled and Entry Level workers and also for International Post-Graduates the Nominations increased substantially. The nominations received by technology workers had an increase of 19.7 percent in 2018 in comparison to 17.2 percent in 2017.
BC totally issued 3100 provincial nominations by using the Express Entry-aligned streams last year. Among these, 2000 nominations were for Express Entry B.C. Skilled Worker candidates and 936 for the EEBC: International Graduate Category.
Also in Comparison to 2017, there was an increase in the provincial nominations issued by the province by using its Express Entry-aligned streams by 750. The share of the Express Entry candidates in the nominations was 48 percent of all nominations issued in 2018.
There are four categories in the Express Entry BC Streams of its PNP with a link to the Express Entry system:
EEBC: Skilled Workers
EEBC: International Post-Graduates
EEBC: International Graduates
EEBC: Healthcare Professionals
The consideration for provincial nomination, for the Express Entry candidates needs a registration first, with the Skills Immigration Registration System, of the PNP. Each candidate gets a score valued as per the eligibility factors. The candidates with the highest score get the Invitation to Apply, seeking provincial nomination in the regular draws conducted by the authorities.
In 2018 BC PNP, had issued 1987 nominations, totally which was an increase of 806 in comparison to 2017 in EEBC: Skilled Worker category. It shows the increase of 1188 when we compare the figures of 2016. There was also an increase in invitations issued by using the International Post-Graduate and Healthcare Professional categories.
