123rd Express Entry draw in Canada immigration
Canada immigration conducted a new Express Entry draw on August 12, and issued 3,600 invitations to seek permanent residence in Canada to candidates having the score of 466 and higher than it. After issuing 3,600 ITAs today the total numbers issued during the present year is to 52,600.

Moreover, the cut-off threshold (466) today is seven points higher than the score of 459 of the prior invitation round on July 24.

Through the Express Entry system Canada mainly sources skilled foreign workmen. Candidates belonging to the Express Entry pool get a Comprehensive Ranking System score calculated on their education, age, work experience and English or French proficiency  as the factors.

Also, for entering the pool of Express Entry, candidates must meet the requirements of eligibility for any of three categories in the Federal economic-class immigration 

  • Canadian Experience Class
  • Federal Skilled Trades Class
  • Federal Skilled Worker Class, 

IRCC has used the tie break mechanism for the present draw with the date and timing set at August 6, 2019, at UTC 12:14:53. All  aspirants who had a rank score of and above 466, entering their profile in the pool prior to the specific date as well as specific time, received the ITA.

IRCC has continued the trend to issue 3,600 ITAs in each of three previous draws from July 10th onwards. It is in variance, from 3,350 ITAs, that were issued in earlier 10 Express Entry draws (all-program) conducted between Jan 30th and June 26th, 2019.

The long draw sizes help IRCC in exceeding its record of issuing 89,800 ITAs last year.

The reason for the high CRS score in this today’s draw is the gap of three weeks between draws of the Express Entry pool.

Skilled Immigration in Canada

Canada immigration holds Draws typically every two weeks and a long period between draws gives the pool more time to refill itself with candidates having a high score. More ITAs in this year are necessary, particularly when Canada has expanded its admissions target for 2019 as well as 2020 in the three Express Entry programs and also in the Provincial Nominee Program, partially managed by system of Express Entry.

The Candidates who had a low CRS score can improve their rank in the pool of Express Entry by considering the option of the provincial nomination.

Several provinces in Canada have an immigration stream with a link to the Express Entry system. EE candidates obtaining nomination from the province also get 600 CRS points more and move ahead of the queue for ITA.

Active Streams in Express Entry 

Streams having a link with the Express Entry were active in nomination in recent weeks for the provinces of Ontario, Alberta and Saskatchewan. The Ontario HCP Stream issued 1,773 invitations to candidates having the work experience in six technology occupations.

Additionally the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program has issued 104 invitations in the  sub-category of Express Entry to candidates with work experience in one of 19 in-demand occupations in the province, among other qualifications.

Alberta selected candidates with a CRS score of 300 in four draws, 301 in Three draws and one at 302 during 2019.

The candidates who wrote the IELTS and obtained a score of 8 in each category had a good chance of selection. With the long time gap between draws there was an increase in the minimum CRS score.

Finally many of the provincial nominee programs with a link to Express Entry are generous with the opportunities to the eligible candidates having a low CRS score.
